In 1971, Steve McQueen starred in Le Mans, a passion project that captured the actor's love of racing by depicting a fictional running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans — complete with footage from the actual 1970s 24 Hours of Le Mans. Inseparable from the film is McQueen's car, a Porsche 917 that has passed into automotive legend when it won Le Mans in both 1970 and 1971.

This incredible ad from 1971, the year Le Mans debut, advertises the film by showing off its two stars: McQueen and the straight-12 Porsche 917 driven by him in the movie. Charmingly, the ad is for neither the film nor for Porsche, but for Gulf Oil, the 917's team sponsor. Executed in that terse and handsome mid-20th century style, it's the type of advertising that we here at Analog:Shift treasure.

This ad is custom framed in a 14” x 16 1/2” solid wood frame with dark grey metallic veneer finish. It features a custom-measured, reverse-hand-cut 4-ply matte in cream, as well as a background accent built from 2 mat boards perfectly joined and aligned with advertisement, in light blue and orange to coordinate with color scheme of Gulf logo and livery of Porsche 917. Every material used is acid-free and the glass is anti-reflective and offers UV-protection to keep this precious ad preserved no matter where you decide to hang it up. Speaking of which, hanging your newly purchased ad is a seamless task, as this particular frame comes with an additional hanging wire and felt pads for wall protection.

With its famous blue and orange livery and its depiction of one of the world's most famous actors — and one of its most beloved cars — this incredible ad is a "must" for any racing or Hollywood fan.

Most of our products are on hand and will ship directly from our headquarters in New York City. In some cases, watches will be shipped directly from one of our authorized partners.

We generally ship our products via FedEx, fully insured, within 5 business days of purchase. An adult signature is required for receipt of all packages for insurance purposes. Expedited shipping is available at an additional cost. We are also happy to hand deliver your purchase in Manhattan or you may pick it up at our showroom.

Returns must be sent overnight or by priority international delivery, fully insured and paid for by the customer. A restocking fee may apply. Watches must be returned in the same condition as initially shipped.
