Why We Love it
–We’re known for our love of DOXA Subs.
In any flavor, any color, from the classic, orange-dialed Professional to the stunning silver-dialed Searambler, we dig 'em all. In fact, the original inspiration behind Analog:Shift was squarely centered on DOXA!
While not nearly as well known as the Blancpain Fifty-Fathoms or the Rolex Submariner, the DOXA Sub series played an integral role in the development of the modern diver's watch.
The first generation of the model, introduced in 1967, brought innovations we now take for granted: the unidirectional bezel with the US Navy's no-decompression dive timing marks, the expanding bracelet, and an oversized, luminous minute hand. After its introduction, DOXA rapidly became a household name for professional and amateur divers in the late 1960s and 1970s, and the Sub 300 evolved into an even more capable and reliable instrument.
But our love of the brand doesn’t end with the vintage versions. DOXA is still around, and still manages to surprise us. Such is the case with this watch, the second series of a limited edition commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Sub 300 Professional.Â
It features the same 42.5mm stainless steel cushion case that we all love, with a boxed sapphire crystal, a signed crown, and a unidirectional rotating timing/decompression bezel with orange and black text. Its silver ‘Searambler’ dial — which by the way, is the best silver dial in the game — features applied, luminous indices, a sword handset, date window at 3 o’clock, and prominent minute track, which call back to historical DOXA models. But it’s the ‘Aqua-Lung’ logo in the lower left-hand quadrant that truly gets collectors’ hearts racing: Referencing the original partnership between DOXA and Jacques Cousteau’s SCUBA equipment company, it now signifies a limited edition that modern DOXA nerds all yearn to own.Â
These pieces, like the DOXAs of yore and today, are powered by a robust and proven ETA automatic winding movement and come fitted to a stainless steel 'beads-of-rice' bracelet with a signed locking clasp with diving extension. This particular example also comes with much of its factory kit.
Produced in just a few hundred examples, these 50th-anniversary Subs are rare, handsome, and highly sought after. The 'Silver Lung,' with its stunning sunburst finished dial, is furthermore the perfect aquatic companion.Â
Own this one today and give it a proper adventure!
Brand Story

Brand Story
+Since wearability was crucial, Eschle designed a large case with wide rounded lugs. For the dial, the team tested many colors (orange, yellow, turquoise, and red) in the waters of Neuchatel Lake. An unprecedented amount of tritium was also used on the hands and hour indices.
The team implemented a unidirectional bezel with an innovative insert: the U.S. Navy No Decompression chart, with the outer depth scale in orange and the minute scale in black, to allow divers to gauge how much air was in left in their tanks. Rounding out the Sub 300's innovative design was a beads-of-rice bracelet that was the first to implement an ratcheting expandable clasp capable of fitting over a diver's wetsuit without having to remove links.
