Why We Love it

Why We Love it
–We’re well known for our love of DOXA Subs.
In any flavor, any color, from the classic orange-dialed Professional to the stunning silver-dialed Searambler, we love 'em all. In fact, the original inspiration behind Analog:Shift was squarely centered on DOXA!
While not as well-known as the Blancpain Fifty-Fathoms or the Rolex Submariner, the DOXA Sub series played an integral role in the development of the modern diver's watch.Â
The first generation of the model, introduced in 1967, brought innovations we now take for granted in the contemporary dive watch: the unidirectional bezel with the US Navy's no-decompression dive timing marks engraved, the expanding bracelet, and an oversized luminous minute hand. After its introduction, DOXA became a household name for professional and amateur divers in the late 1960s and 1970s, and the Sub 300 evolved into an even more capable and reliable instrument.
This example is a 'Sharkhunter’ model from the first year of production, 1967, a so-called 'No-T' thin cased version only produced for a year. It features a 42.5mm stainless steel case, domed acrylic crystal, unidirectional steel timing bezel engraved with the U.S. Navy's No-Decompression scale and a correct unsigned locking crown. The caseback features DOXA's classic sailing ship engraving further confirming its first-gen provenance.
Fitted with the Sharkhunter's characteristic luminous matte black dial, this piece offers a light even patination across its printed indices and an all-white handset - earning this piece the coolest nickname in DOXA - the highly-coveted, mega-elusive ‘Whiteshark’.Â
Chef’s kiss.
Fresh off a professional case refinishing and mechanical service, this is a rare opportunity to snag an important part of dive watch history. There’s no telling when another first-generation Sub 300 ‘Whiteshark’ will surface again - don't miss it!

Brand Story
+Since wearability was crucial, Eschle designed a large case with wide rounded lugs. For the dial, the team tested many colors (orange, yellow, turquoise, and red) in the waters of Neuchatel Lake. An unprecedented amount of tritium was also used on the hands and hour indices.
The team implemented a unidirectional bezel with an innovative insert: the U.S. Navy No Decompression chart, with the outer depth scale in orange and the minute scale in black, to allow divers to gauge how much air was in left in their tanks. Rounding out the Sub 300's innovative design was a beads-of-rice bracelet that was the first to implement an ratcheting expandable clasp capable of fitting over a diver's wetsuit without having to remove links.
