Memosail Regatta Timer

Purpose-built watches have captured the minds and hearts of collectors for decades. Many have found an enduring place in the pantheon of classic designs even though they might not still be used for their intended purpose.

During yachting regattas, so-called ‘yacht timers’ were equipped with special countdown functions that allowed a skipper to line up his vessel such that it would cross the start line exactly at the sounding of the starting gun. Of course, these watches also needed to be thoroughly water-resistant, first-rate timekeepers in and of themselves, and as a result, many robust, beautiful watches were developed by companies large and small.

This particular regatta timer dates back to the 1970s, and comes from Swiss watchmaker Memosail. It features a 41mm stainless steel tonneau case with  barrel pushers, mineral glass crystal, a navy blue tritium dial with a silvered chapter ring, a yellow and red 10-minute regatta countdown disc, and a matching handset with a bright orange seconds hand.

Powered by the manually wound Valjoux 7737 chronograph movement and paired to our Analog:Shift Pitt Orange Alpine Leather Strap, this colorful regatta timer is an awesome artifact from the pre-digital days of sports timing. 

With an unpolished case in outstanding condition throughout, this delightful regatta chronograph will surely have your timing needs covered, whether you're skippering a yacht or watching from the safety of the pier, cocktail firmly in hand.

Most of our products are on hand and will ship directly from our headquarters in New York City. In some cases, watches will be shipped directly from one of our authorized partners.

We generally ship our products via FedEx, fully insured, within 5 business days of purchase. An adult signature is required for receipt of all packages for insurance purposes. Expedited shipping is available at an additional cost. We are also happy to hand deliver your purchase in Manhattan or you may pick it up at our showroom.

Returns must be sent overnight or by priority international delivery, fully insured and paid for by the customer. A restocking fee may apply. Watches must be returned in the same condition as initially shipped.
