Why We Love it
–Sometimes you are guided by your head - a watch is on the upswing, investing in it now will likely pay off later; other times, you are pulled by your heart toward a watch that has a personal significance. But every so often a watch simply catches your eye and makes you stop - stop your search for the grail, stop your hunt for the rare execution, stop your depositing money into your child's college fund...
The Revue Cerberus won't ever grace the pages of the collector's guides or ignite frenzied controversy on popular watch blogs - mainly because it's very likely that no one has ever heard of it.
Revue Thommen, the contemporary permutation of the brand, traces its heritage back about a hundred and fifty years, citing a long run as a manufacture of aircraft gauges and timers. While their present-day offerings are rather uninspired, the brand's dabblings in wristwatches throughout the 1960s and 1970s resulted in some visually stunning and extremely well-crafted timepieces.
This watch hails from that time and is an excellent example of Revue's creativity and ingenuity. The large barrel case bears a lovely radial brushing on the low-shouldered bezel and relatively wide (22mm!) lugs with very little taper. Clearly designed to be a too watch, the luminous dial and handset are simple and straightforward as one would expect, offering a perfectly spartan 3,6,9,12 layout and stick markers.
With this one checking all the boxes, it's easy to see why we think this is one of the cooler off-beat watches to come through our doors for a while. But don't take our word for it...
