Bvlgari Diagono

Bulgari enjoys a unique relationship with the timepiece industry. 

A part of the LVMH group, they are perhaps better known — at least outside watchmaking circles — for their luxurious high jewelry, fashion, and fragrance divisions than they are for their wristwatches. But what watches they do have are really quite something. One need look no further than their award-winning (and completely breathtaking) Octo Finissimo series to prove that they have it where it counts in terms of design chops.

Less well known, but equally interesting to us, are timepieces such as this one: A Bulgari Diagono Chronograph. Introduced in 2016, it enjoyed only a short production run, but has already won a place of affection in our eyes. An extension of the Diagono line introduced in 1988, the Chronograph is a unique take on design of the common complication, incorporating as it does the bold “Bulgari Bulgari” branding of the 1970s and the integrated bracelet look of Genta’s famed designs. 

This particular Diagono Chronograph from the 2020s is housed in a 38mm yellow gold case with a sapphire crystal, a signed rubber crown and pushers, and a signed black rubber bezel. It features a luminous matte black dial with applied yellow gold baton indices, a matching yellow gold handset, a triple-register chronograph layout with yellow gold accents, and a date window at 4:30. Powered by the Bulgari Calibre B130 automatic chronograph movement (based on an ETA Calibre 2894), it comes paired to a signed articulating black rubber strap with yellow gold hinges and a matching signed yellow gold deployant clasp.

The resulting product is at once retro-fantastic and highly avant-garde. You'd have to look pretty far and wide to find a contemporary timepiece with high-end casing materials and functionality for anywhere near this price point — and it probably wouldn't end up looking this cool.

Founded by Greek entrepreneur and silversmith Sotirios Voulgaris in Rome in 1884, Bvlgari has since become a luxury powerhouse.
Following its acquisition of the Gérald Genta and Daniel Roth brands from Singapore’s The Hour Glass in the early 2000s, the maison began a process of vertical integration that has allowed it to produce watches on par with the best from historical Swiss firms, the likes of which have stunned the world in the form of the Octo Finissimo collection. Indeed, having broken eight world records for thinness in as many years, the 2020s have proven Bvlgari to be a watchmaker unparalleled in modern history.
In 2011, Bvlgari was purchased by the LVMH Group, ensuring an allocation of resources and limelight that have placed the brand at the center of the watch buying public’s attention. From simple, time-only pieces to some of the world’s most complicated watches — and the world’s thinnest mechanical watch, full stop — Bvlgari’s watchmaking division continues to develop some of the most stunning timepieces in the world, each imbued with a certain Roman charm and sophistication.

Most of our products are on hand and will ship directly from our headquarters in New York City. In some cases, watches will be shipped directly from one of our authorized partners.

We generally ship our products via FedEx, fully insured, within 5 business days of purchase. An adult signature is required for receipt of all packages for insurance purposes. Expedited shipping is available at an additional cost. We are also happy to hand deliver your purchase in Manhattan or you may pick it up at our showroom.

Returns must be sent overnight or by priority international delivery, fully insured and paid for by the customer. A restocking fee may apply. Watches must be returned in the same condition as initially shipped.
