Why We Love it
–Grand Seiko is the darling of contemporary watch collectors today, and taking even a cursory glance at the design specs — or better yet — an example in the metal, it’s easy to see why.
Grand Seiko as a company dates back to right around 1960, and some of their earliest models featured what went on to become the hallmark design staples that are clear and present in their popular collections today.
This particular piece is a vintage model from the 1970s, a Reference 5646-7011. Housed in a 36mm stainless steel case with an ultra-cool, glass ‘tic-tac-toe’ crystal, a signed crown, and a stepped, polished bezel, it features a satin silver dial with applied indices, a matching ‘baton’ handset, a Kanji day and date aperture at 3 o’clock, and an outer minute track.
Powered by the automatic Grand Seiko Caliber 5646 movement and paired to a signed, black crocodile leather strap with a signed, stainless steel pin buckle, this 5646-7011 is in NOS condition, and ships with its factory goodies. A time capsule of a watch from Grand Seiko’s golden era, it’s the type of find that comes along only once in a blue moon.
Don’t sleep on this one - it's unlikely that a package like this will turn up again!
Brand Story

Brand Story
+Other models of Grand Seiko would follow, coupling those elegant “sparkling” cases with high-grade (often hi-beat) manually-wound or automatic movements. When compared to the no-nonsense tool watches like the 6309 line of divers, the Grand Seiko was worlds away—refined, elegant, and cosmopolitan. Seiko intended the watch to be an answer to dress watches crafted by the Swiss, and at that it certainly did succeed.
Well-regarded in its home country, the Grand Seiko reached a global audience in 2010—and has captivated consumers ever since.
