Why We Love it

We love vintage Heuers because they epitomize the essence of vintage racing chronographs, and the Montreal is one of the coolest and is a relatively obscure model that is little known outside of collector circles.

Introduced in 1972 featuring a number of similar design cues to the more established Autavia and Carrera collections, the Montreal effortlessly exudes that "70s thing" we love so much. With an oversized cushion case with fine sunburst brushing, the case is similar in appearance to the popular Mark II Speedmaster, but is powered by the Calibre 12 automatic chronograph movement instead of the Omega's hand-cranker.

The Montreal gets practically no attention, even from aficionados of vintage Heuers. The model, first launched in 1972, ran for about four years with the in-house caliber 12 movement. Then production switched to the venerable Valjoux workhorse, the 7750. These watches are distinguished from their counterparts with their monochrome dials: black on black or blue on blue. The only break from the monotony of the dial was the hands or pulsation scales.

But the Monteal wasn't long for the world. Production ceased in 1983, eleven years after its conception. This makes the Montreal a rarity among Heuer chronographs, but no less worthy of attention.

This particular model, a Reference 110.503W, features a crisp white dial with applied markers and contrasting black subsidiary registers and luminous red hands. A blue chapter ring separates the inner dial from the Tachymetre/Pulsations scale fitted on the rehaut, printed with vibrant blue and red text. In excellent condition throughout, this piece features a strong case, fluted pushers, signed crown, and the correct signed bracelet.

This is a super, super cool racer's chronograph in a rare panda configuration that is sure not to last long, so don't miss it!
