Why We Love it

Not all of us are blessed with effortless style, and for those of us who aren't, we rely on the fashion mavens of film to help us along.  Over the years there have been characters and actors who have driven the popular sense of what's cool, edgy and interesting.  From James Dean and Steve McQueen to Thomas Crown and James Bond, our history has been directed and influence by the sartorial benchmarks set in place by these silver screen giants.

In 2007, Mad Men's Don Draper walked his way onto the scene, towing with him the distinct American style of the late 1950s and early 1960s.  Draper's clean and deliberate suits were always paired with period-correct timepieces, some of which have made their way onto the 'must-have' lists of collectors and enthusiasts.  And it's easy to see why.  From classic Jaeger-LeCoultres to early Rolex models, Draper's wrist wardrobe was filled with timeless watches that evoke the essence of the era - small cases and simple, spartan dials - and became (whether knowingly or not) a harbinger of what is now a full-fledged trend among watch enthusiasts.

As early as Season Five, and making regular appearances right through to the final season, an Omega Seamaster De Ville was added to Draper's repertoire.  The model he donned (pun intended), a sharp piece with a glossy black quadrant dial with steel pencil hands and a date window at 3:00 and push-pull quickset date function, is a benchmark of classic Omega styling and probably one of the most iconic of the vast Seamaster Line.

This particular example is precisely the watch seen on Draper's wrist and is in stunning condition - a fact that is so hard to say about many Omegas of there era that have been well worn and polished, or assembled from New Old Stock parts.  And while these classic Omegas are relatively common, finding the genuine article in unmolested condition is a coup.
