Why We Love it
–Established in 1839, Patek Philippe has produced some of the world’s most famed and beloved watches.
From the Reference 96 Calatrava to the Reference 2499 perpetual calendar chronograph, the Genevan maison is responsible for myriad legendary timepieces that have come to define their categories. And while many of these models and references were marketed to men, no less impressive are the brand’s ladies’ offerings — watches that marry haute horlogerie and metier d’art to stunning effect.
The Reference 7071R-001 from the company’s Complications line is one such example. A beautiful, mid-sized chronograph, it provides ample proof that when a watchmaker applies itself, a ladies’ collection can (and should) betray the same innovation and attention to detail as its male-marketed counterparts.
Housed in a 35mm x 39mm rose gold cushion case, this particular 7071R-001 from the early 2010s features a signed crown, dual ‘doorstop’ chronograph pushers, ‘cornes de vache’ lugs, and a sapphire crystal. Its silver opaline dial features dual rows of round-cut diamonds of various sizes, while a dual-register chronograph display is joined by an outer 1/5th-seconds track, printed ‘Roman’ indices, and a lumed ‘feuille’ handset. Powered by the manually-wound Calibre CH 29-535 PS, it comes paired to a signed, brown leather strap with white contrast stitching and a rose gold pin buckle.
Accompanied by its factory goodies, this gorgeous chronograph is ready to continue its second decade on the wrist of a special someone who appreciates its marriage of fine watchmaking and gemsetting. Just be careful — there’s no guarantee that your significant other won’t try to steal it from you!

Whichever way you look at it, there is no questioning the elegance of design, superlative manufacture of their cases and movements, or the sheer elegance and emotion that comes from owning one.
Of course for a brand that is steeped in heritage, we are told ‘You never actually own a Patek Philippe…”
