Why We Love it

Why We Love it
–The Nautilus is without question one of the great horological icons of the 1970s, and one of the most in-demand timepiece models on the planet.
Collectors and prospectors alike are clamoring to get their hands on Genta's second great luxury sports watch, and with the recent news of the discontinuation of the flagship reference 5711 in steel, this dramatic rise in popularity shows no signs of slowing down.
But what we have here is no run-of-the-mill Nautilus. This is a Reference 3711/1G from circa 2005. Introduced in 2004, this piece combines all of the design characteristics that we know and love from the original Reference 3700 Nautilus, this time, with a full white gold construction.
The 3711/1G comes in at 42mm in diameter with a matching integrated bracelet with signed deployant clasp, a brushed/polished bezel, a sapphire crystal, and a signed crown. Inside, instead of the prototypical blue gradient 'teak' dial, this special piece is housed around a luminous black 'teak' dial with matching handset, and Patek Philippe's automatic winding Calibre 315 SC movement beating away within.
This wildly rare piece with its white precious metal construction is, by Nautilus standards, a sleeper.

Brand Story
+Founded in 1839, Patek Philippe is one of the oldest watch manufacturers in the world with an uninterrupted watchmaking history. Few luxury brands in the world carry the gravitas of their name, and for good reason. The firm's commitment to excellence in horological manufacture is unflinching, and their track record of innovation in design without peer. They continue to lead the industry, and even their fiercest competitors have nothing but the utmost respect for the company.
Owning a Patek Philippe is for many the ultimate goal of timepiece collecting, and for a certain type, the only timepieces they collect. Whichever way you look at it, there is no questioning the elegance of design, superlative manufacture of their cases and movements, or the sheer elegance and emotion that comes from owning one.
Of course for a brand that is steeped in heritage, we are told ‘You never actually own a Patek Philippe…”
Well, you know the rest.
