Why We Love it

Why We Love it
–It’s a tank… but it’s not!
For most of its existence, Piaget operated quietly behind the proverbial horology curtain, producing some of the most lauded mechanical movements in Switzerland.
But when the Piaget name was displayed on the dial, the brand embodied a distinguishable lavish style that became synonymous with a period of opulence, representative of the American dream in the 1960s and 70s, as well as those wore it –– Andy Warhol, Roger Moore, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Elvis Presley, and many more.
This particular Piaget provides an eclectic blend of tastes. A Tank dial layout, but executed with a stunning lapis lazuli blue dial and stepped case that evoke art-deco charm to the moon.
Executed in yellow gold and topped with a sapphire crystal, this piece has a warmth on the wrist and a comfortable presence with a reassuring, yet not overbearing heft. In lieu of a conventional lug system, the strap is integrated directly into the case flank, allowing the broad piece to wear more compactly on wrists of all sizes.
This piece comes with a signed ‘P’ 18K yellow gold pin buckle and black alligator strap.
If any jewelry brand were to present a piece with this much style and character today, the watch would easily run multiples of the cost of this beautiful piece. This is just one of the many reasons we have been passionate about Piaget here at Analog Shift for many years.
Be sure to grab this piece before someone else does!

Brand Story
+In 1960, Piaget released the Calibre 12P, the thinnest automatic movement in the world at the time, at just 2.3mm. It fitted many of its miniature movements into innovative timepieces hidden in coins, brooches, and cufflinks, becoming known equally for its jewelry.
The Piaget Altiplano Ultimate, released as a concept in 2018, became a full production model in 2020. At just 2mm thick, it took the record for thinnest watch on Earth. Today, Piaget continues to innovate in the realm of ultra-thin watchmaking, creating ultra-thin tourbillons, retrograde movements, and more.
