Porsche Design Chronograph By Orfina

It’s not every day that a truly original watch rears its head. The Porsche Design Chronograph from Orfina, however, was one such timepiece. 

Designed by none other than Ferdinand Alexander ‘Butzi’ Porsche (creator of the 911), it was a technological marvel released in the very midst of the Quartz Crisis. Available in stainless steel — as in this example — it was perhaps more famously seen in black PVD-coated steel, making it the first commercially available timepiece to feature such a “blacked out” treatment. Porsche Design, Butzi’s design studio, would later partner with IWC on timepiece production, but its earliest watches were produced by Orfina, as is the case with the Chronograph.

This particular Porsche Design Chronograph from circa the 1970s features a 41mm stainless steel tonneau case, a signed crown, a mineral crystal, and a pristine matte black Tritium dial with a matching handset. Paired to a matching folded 'H-link' bracelet with a signed blade clasp, it’s powered by the Lemania 5100, perhaps one of the most significant and interesting automatic chronograph calibers ever developed.

Most of our products are on hand and will ship directly from our headquarters in New York City. In some cases, watches will be shipped directly from one of our authorized partners.

We generally ship our products via FedEx, fully insured, within 5 business days of purchase. An adult signature is required for receipt of all packages for insurance purposes. Expedited shipping is available at an additional cost. We are also happy to hand deliver your purchase in Manhattan or you may pick it up at our showroom.

Returns must be sent overnight or by priority international delivery, fully insured and paid for by the customer. A restocking fee may apply. Watches must be returned in the same condition as initially shipped.
