Why We Love it

In its century of existence, Rolex has remained as stolid and dependable as the watches it produces. The brand has weathered two world wars, a depression, and the Quartz Crisis of the 1970s. Athletes, businessmen, presidents, and explorers have all worn a Rolex on their wrist.

First introduced in 1945 and in continuous production since, the Datejust is an enduring testament to the brand's longevity. With perfect case proportions and a dial that's elegant in its simplicity, the Datejust has become an icon of horological design. Though subtle changes have been made to the model throughout the years (such as the addition of a date magnifier in 1957), the Datejust retains its simplicity.

Three hands and a date, that's all you need, and that's all the Datejust gives you--but in such an attractive package.

This Datejust, a Reference 1600, is perhaps one of the sportier iterations of the model. This is due to it being offered entirely in steel, a material which it wasn't available in until 1957. With its smooth steel bezel, the 1600 can be distinguished from its sister references of Datejust, the 1601, which has a gold bezel; or the 1603, which has an engine-turned steel bezel.

Another element that sets this Datejust apart is the dial. As brilliantly blue as the waters of Lake Geneva, the dial is captivating, and just as deep. On a stainless steel Jubilee bracelet, this watch begs to be worn every day, a true testament to the quality of its construction.
