Why We Love it
–While Benrus is probably most famous for its defense-contracted GI watches that they produced for troops during the Vietnam war, the brand has an extensive history in watchmaking dating back to the 1920s. They excelled at making a variety of timepieces; including but not limited to chronographs and even precious metal dress watches.
Take this Wrist Alarm watch for example - with a compact but sturdy 34mm case, gloss black dial, luminous handset, and red-tipped alarm indicator hand, this piece has enough flair of its own to stand alone, but has all the quality one would come to expect from watches produced by Benrus with their no-nonsense quality control and military pedigree.
Furthermore, this particular Reference, a 3021, is very similar in design to the time-only model worn by Steve McQueen in the 1968 film 'Bullitt' - known everywhere for its great theme music, style-forward costuming, and of course the greatest car chase in cinema history!
Just like the King of Cool himself, this Benrus exudes just about everything that we love about great vintage timepieces - snatch it up and see what we mean!
Brand Story

Brand Story
+While Benrus is probably most famous for its defense-contracted GI watches produced for American troops during the 1960s, it was during the 1940s that the firm made some of its finest timepieces. Among these, the best-known is probably the Sky Chief, a simple and beautiful pilot’s watch. Building upon the success of the Airman, which was used by pilots of the National Air Transport Company — the first airline to operate cross-country flights — the Sky Chief quickly became the brand’s most famous chronograph, and is still beloved by collectors today.
Benrus went bankrupt in 1971 during the Quartz Crisis, but for many years prior, was the second-largest American watch company after Hamilton.
