–Our enthusiasm for watches isn’t just limited to the timepieces themselves. Often these little mechanical marvels shine a light on other objects that tie into the very same story that makes owning them all the more charming and enjoyable.
A framed vintage advertisement serving as art, a SCUBA depth instrument adding some character to the shelf decor, or an old-world ashtray doubling as a valet tray for all your pocket essentials — these are the types of mementos that heavily tug on our nostalgic heart strings. It’s no wonder our offices are filled with all sorts of these trinkets! Luckily for you, we’ve filled our online shelves with an array of vintage finds from this year — just in time for the holidays.
This vintage friction toy car is created in likeness to the Jaguar XKE — you know, the vehicle that Enzo Ferrari dubbed, “The most beautiful car in the world.” — high praise from the man who manufactured many iconic sports cars himself. Built by Louis Marx and Company, which operated from 1919 to 1980, this friction model dates to the late 1960s. In exceptional condition throughout, this Jag is finished in blue over a red and beige interior and comes with fine detailing throughout, including first-series cowled headlights, a hand-painted driver (with racing helmet!) and chrome wire wheels.
Headquartered here in New York City, Marx produced some of the coolest toys a child could ever wish for, and this stunning friction Jag is no exception. Go on now, you know you want it...
