–Sure, Analog:Shift is a business built around the love of watches — mostly mechanical watches. But, in essence, it’s our love for timepieces and timekeeping in general that are the common themes throughout the items we procure. And that includes the love of clocks in general: pocket watches, travel clocks, and more.
After all, in the couple hundred years before the First World War, personal timekeeping was all about the pocket watch, and before that, it was larger clocks that were front and center, horologically. We still believe a good clock — such as a classic travel model from the 1920s or 1930s — has a place in the watch lover’s collection.
This particular clock is a pocket stopwatch from Junghans, a German manufacturer that at one time produced the most clocks and timepieces of any company in the world. Dating from the 1960s and housed in a 55mm chrome-plated case with an acrylic crystal, a chrome-plated start/stop/rest crown, and a polished bezel, it features a matte white dial with a seconds totalizer at 2 o’clock, a minutes totalizer at 10 o’clock, a 1/10th-second totalizer at 6 o’clock, and blued steel chronograph hands.Â
With its unique dial arrangement that looks somewhat like a face and its mechanical movement that’s incredibly satisfying to use, this German-made stopwatch is equal parts starkly beautiful and highly utilitarian.
Once you have it in your hands, we’re sure you’ll see what we mean!
