–From pressing a chronograph pusher to watching the smooth sweep of a seconds hand, there’s something to be said about watching a mechanical object put into motion.
A model car evokes a very similar feeling. It beckons you to glide it across a table, to open its doors to get a closer look at its detailed interior and to pop the hood revealing a carbon copy engine. What’s more, there’s an element of playfulness between the two — a reminder not to take ourselves too seriously. Whether it’s watches, model cars or anything vintage, it’s the tactile experience that keeps us in the moment, and it’s what we love about all analog things.
Dating back to the 1970s, this miniature clockwork racing car model pays tribute to the McLaren Formula I car campaigned in 1974, replete with raised intake and oversized aero. Finished in red and white with accurate details featuring Texaco, Heuer and Marlboro decal livery, this particular Schuco model car is in outstanding condition throughout, and includes its original box, period catalog, and winding key.
This open-wheeled racer will not only delight the vintage motorsports enthusiast with its incredible detail throughout, but can be thrust into motion with its wind-up clockwork motor! The metal baseplate is signed “McLaren Ford Formel 1” and “Made in Germany”.
They don't make racing cars (real or miniature) this cool anymore...
