1966 Asprey "The Art of Giving" featuring 'Explorer dial' Submariner, Day-Date & GMT-Master

You know Tiffany blue, but do you know Asprey purple?

Rarity aside, it’s that beautiful Rolex family portrait with their flawless dials, tight, long bracelets with spotless clasps that draw you in. But if you can manage to look deeper, you get to the heart of the ad - where its true beauty and charm lies...

This ad gets the heart of what a watch is capable of being. It's more than a timepiece, more than a gift. A timepiece is a way to mark a milestone, a signifier of devotion, a way to commemorate a special time in one's life.

It’s easy to imagine this very advertisement inspiring a husband or wife with an idea for the perfect gift... The way it evokes more than the shopping experience, but rather the emotion of an occasion, serves as a warm reminder that watches are more than their collectibility or price tag.

Their true value comes from what they mean personally to us, the stories they tell, and the times that they mark.

Framed with entire ad page "floating" mounted on dark grey background with matching, thicker-ply matting to compliment tones of paper. Black, solid wood frame.

About our collaboration with Ad Patina

We're thrilled to be collaborating with our longtime friends at Ad Patina to bring you a selection of the most-popular and rare vintage watch advertisements curated specifically for Analog/Shift!

Scouring the world for forgotten marketing treasures, Ad Patina's raison de être very much mimics our own - to hunt down these wonderful bits of history, preserve and restore them as needed, and share them with an enthusiastic community.

These documents of horological history have entered the watch collecting conversation as the ultimate accompanying accessory, and have found themselves framed in homes and offices around the world. Every one of these wonderful pieces is a genuine, vintage advertisement that has been professionally mounted and framed with UV resistant glass to ensure years of enjoyment to come - no reprints or reproductions here!

Much like a traditional piece of art - a painting or photograph - an original watch advertisement can be appreciated for its design as well as for its power to evoke nostalgia.

Something we vintage watch enthusiasts know all about!
